Title
Causality for Neuroscience and beyond
Bio
Konrad Kording is a German neuroscience professor at the University of Pennsylvania and co-founder of Neuromatch. He is known for his contributions to the fields of motor control, neural data methods, and computational neuroscience, as well as his advocacy and contribution to open science and scientific rigor.
Abstract
As scientists, we often ask how something works. What we usually mean with that is that we want to know how one aspect of the world (say, one neuron) affects another aspect of the world (say, another neuron). Dr. Kording will give an intuition of the relevant problems and approaches. Focusing on quasi-experimental approaches and machine learning, he will give an overview of how to broaden the scope of meaningful causal techniques.
